We're all aware that for 99% of bands their first album is their best. But there's a converse to that. Of bands that have gone on and made multiple good albums, I say that for them, the first album is never their best.
Your counter-examples to destroy my theory please...
So I think you're challenging us to identify bands who have a consistent canon of work, but whose debut album is still their strongest? If so:
